MAH JONGG COAST TO COAST!

Yesterday was our weekly game day and it was X’s turn to host. We all are big fans of Fresh Direct – X ordered in their fabulous Southwest Chicken Salad, which she doctored up to make it ever better. On the side was Fresh Direct’s delicious cornbread. Dessert was fresh strawberries and blueberries with Fresh Direct’s new gluten free brownies and blondies – and they are really good! Of course, our Mah Jongg games would be nothing without the requisite big bowl of black licorice!

First we played with a vintage bone and bamboo set – absolutely magnificent – and we were especially careful not to drop any of the tiles on the carpet as X’s wonderful dog loves anything made of BONE! Duh!!

After our delicious lunch we switched over to a Ten Flowers set which was a rich butterscotch color.

Just in case you don’t think we take this game VERY seriously, take a look at J, S and K studying their card before the Charleston begins:

It was a wonderful afternoon of Mah Jongg except for one thing: the other S was not with us – she is in California for a month and we are missing her terribly. However, you might remember the other day’s posting when I introduced you all to a wonderful Mahj teacher in Los Angeles – Johni Levene (January 14, 2014 posting). Well, guess what…S connected with Johni and her Mahj group and today S joined Johni’s group for game play at 9 am PST – just as we were starting our game at noon EST – almost as if we were all playing together, even though 3000 miles separated us.

Will we ever get S back now that she has ventured on to a new group? I warned Johni and her darling friends to not get too chummy with S or we might lose her to them forever. I received an email back saying, “too late – S brought chocolate so we are adopting her permanently.” Really, what is Mah Jongg without chocolate?
