HAPPY 2nd ANNIVERSARY TO THE 4 WINDS MAH JONGG LEAGUE!

I have made many new friends through this blog and each new friend means so very much to me.
From Suzanne Fehseke, a Mah Jongg teacher in Basehor, Kansas, I received the following message along with wonderful pictures taken at their Mah Jongg league’s 2nd anniversary party.

Ann – Feel free to use this in your blog…..I enjoy reading it each morning, and actually have learned a few things along the way….thanks to all who contribute. Suzie

Mahjongg is alive and “celebrating” in Kansas. The 4 Winds Mahjongg League celebrated their 2nd year of playing Mahjongg in Basehor, KS. Thanks to the Basehor Library for their support with offering us room to play and space for our monthly Workshops, our league has grown to playing three times  week, Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays, with as many as 12-16 players at one time! AWESOME!!

Last night was our official 2nd Anniversary party, packed with good food, good play and an extra game…..our “Fun with Mahjongg” crossword puzzle, created by instructor, Suzie Fehseke.  It was a great tool to test the knowledge of the players using simple Mahjongg terms.  Players were permitted to use their card as an open book assist with a prize of a huge candy bar given to the winning table.

As with any party, there were gifts as a “thank you” for the tremendous support made by each player that have joined in the FUN!  We are so blessed to have a wonderful group of players that love to play the game of MAH JONGG…..

I am so proud of each and every one of them……Suzie

Thanks to Suzie – and all the members of The 4 Winds Mah Jongg League – for sharing this with us…and again, happy anniversary – we can’t wait to see what will happen at your 3rd anniversary party!

Would Suzie be willing to share a copy of her “Fun with Mahjongg” crossword puzzle? Sounds like a fun learning tool! Thanks.

Hi Judy – this is a great idea! It clearly is a great tool for Mah Jongg teachers and their new students. I will ask Suzie and see what she thinks.

Hi Diana – thank you for this wonderful message. Who knows – maybe I will get to Basehor one of these days and we will have a chance to meet! Perhaps the library will be carrying my new book, Mah Jongg: The Art of the Game (published by Tuttle and coming out on September 9th)!
