MAH JONGG WEDNESDAY

Yesterday was Mah Jongg Wednesday for the OMs (at least, for those of us that are here in the city this week!). S1 hosted and it seemed as if we hadn’t seen J in ages – it was so great to be together and catch up. Lunch was so yummy and I could kick myself because I forgot to take pictures. Sanna made a wonderful and very delicious salad along with a platter stacked high of the yummiest tuna and egg salad sandwiches – the perfect summer lunch!

I had such a great winning day and, actually, everyone had multiple wins – we had only one wall game the entire day. Here was my first win with this 369 hand of 333 666 6666 9999.

HERE’S A HANDSOME HELPING HAND…

A dear friend of this blog, Joy Hamilton, sent me the following email and photo:

I‘ve been searching for a pusher to compliment my Mah Jongg tiles and just didn’t want another piece of plastic.  My husband made a ‘pusher’ for me (for my Birthday) from a piece of Bamboo!  It think it’s fabulous and just had to share it with you.
I look forward to starting my day, everyday, by reading your daily blog.  Once again, thank-you for all the hard work you do providing your readers with such great information.
All for now,
Joy

How fabulous is this pusher? I just love it, especially the fact that it is made from bamboo. What a perfect complement to Joy’s lovely Mah Jongg set. I warned Joy that I probably will be inundated for requests as to how to purchase one of these – I know I would love a set! And what a fabulous holiday gift these would be!!
Joy…what do you think?! This could be an entire new career for you and your husband!

LOTS OF MAH JONGG NEWS…

First and foremost, we extend our most heartfelt condolences to dear Gladys Grad, the Grand Master of American Style Mah Jongg, for the untimely loss of her beloved husband, Phil. We are all thinking of you, Gladys.

On a happier note, the Berkeley-based Mah Jongg maven and exceptional teacher, Toby Salk, has lots of news for us. As we wrote earlier, Toby’s darling mother, Reva, won the first game of Mah Jongg at the Project Mah Jongg exhibit at the Contemporary Jewish Museum in San Francisco . Here is the beautiful mother and daughter duo:
