Monthly Archives: October 2014

My turn to host again and of course you all know how much I love to do this! It is always so much fun for me to have the OMs over for good food, great laughs, and lots of Mah Jongg. And yesterday was no different…

Lunch started out with Curried Butternut Squash Soup with Condiments (a Barefoot Contessa recipe, of course!)  followed by a basic chicken salad mixed with feta cheese and artichokes (as always, recipes and photos will follow tomorrow).

And then game play began! In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Mah Jongg set we used today was the Pink Ribbon/Breast Cancer set. We played today in memory of my mom who died from breast cancer so many years ago. This very special set came from Where the Winds Blow, in case you would like to have one, too. We all just love this set! Here is a photo of the pretty pink glitter tiles and the special Pink Ribbon Jokers that you order separately:

Because of some other commitments, I missed out on meeting up in New Orleans with about twenty of my online Mah Jongg friends for a four-day fun fest. I have been keeping up with what went on and I know I missed a really special time (along with those beignets…or should I say, what was left of them!).

Life Magazine, that is. From the April 24th, 1924 issue…”Pa and Ma Jongg!”10712780_303828996487023_7080436865341349415_n

What a beautiful drive from NYC to Woodstock! The leaves were changing colors and it was  a peak “leaf-peeper” day. I arrived in Woodstock in plenty of time to have a look around at what turned out to be a very charming town and also to have a chance to meet and spend a few moments with the director of the movie, Joe Muszynski, and one of the producers, Christina Mengert. What wonderful people!
