Well, this has been a week of truly heartwarming stories revolving around Mah Jongg and the responses have also been heartwarming. So, here comes another story – definitely a three-hankie moment – but this time I am asking you to open up your handbags as well as your hearts to help raise money – and awareness – for the  Leukemia and Lymphoma  Society. Our friend Renee continues to hold (and host so graciously) a 3-day Mah Jongg Marathon at her home. Not only is it great fun but it is also a gourmet delight. Although this weekend’s marathon is just about over, there are two others that are scheduled for this year; If you are in California – or planning on being in the area at those times –  please try to attend one of Renee’s upcoming amazing events or if you can’t attend, contact Renee to be an LLS supporter. Here is Renee’s heartwarming message:

My brother Joel would have been 59 this Sunday but he passed away 3 1/2 years ago of CML….Leukemia. Tonight marks the beginning of the 3 Day LLS Mah Jongg Marathon at my house. My family organized this amazing event in memory of Joel with hopes that we will help find a cure for a disease that affects so many. We have raised over $17,000.00 in this weekend alone! I am so grateful for the generosity of the people around me. “Someday is Today” to find a cure for Leukemia and Lymphoma. My donation link will be operational in February and I will post it then, but if you love Mah Jongg and love to eat, check out the flyer and maybe you would like to be a LLS supporter in May or August!

For the past six years, I have been a participant with team in Training walking the Nike half marathon in SF. This is an extraordinary organization that is changing the face of leukemia. Kudos to you Renee! Put me on your mailing list. You never know… I might just consider a road trip! SOMEDAY IS TODAY!
