Inspired by the museum exhibition Project Mah Jongg, Ann Israel took mah jongg lessons with a group of friends, including Gregg Swain, the co-author of her recent book, Mah Jongg: The Art of the Game. When they started playing, they also began to appreciate the spectacular vintage sets that still existed, and soon Israel purchased her first.
