Hopefully the weather will allow my flight to take off today! We have another major storm going on here in NYC – please let this be the last storm of this crazy winter!
In the meantime, I received more information from Deb who was the subject of yesterday’s posting. I know some of you were upset that her group plays 14 tile Mah Jongg. Remember, these are table rules and apparently quite a common way to play the game in Florida. However, those of you who were upset will be happy to know that Deb and own of her groups also play the standard NMJL game. Additionally, Deb is a fairly new player and I am going to guess that the 14 tile table rule game is how she was taught so let’s lighten up on this…besides, no matter what your personal opinion may be, the more players of the game, the better it is for all of us – Deb is playing three times a week with different groups each time – you have to love her commitment to the game!

Lots of players can’t bear the thought of giving up their 14 tile game. Some feel it’s faster….but our “research” in dozens of tournaments has found that isn’t the case. Especially when you add in all the rules-conflicts that can occur. Although the NMJL prefers not to “rule,” we can and do help to mediate the disputes that occur. We acknowledge that the 14-tile-game won’t disappear from the American Mah Jongg playing landscape anytime soon….. (even tho we feel it does have a limited lifespan). Glady’s Grad. Shirley – the airline made us deplane around 1:30 am. The pilot didn’t want to work in the middle of the night. This has been such a nightmare. I returned to my apartment around 3 am and here I sit!
