HOPE YOU KNOW HOW MUCH THIS CHEERED ME UP…

I’ve been so blue all day about missing Gladys Grad’s Mah Jongg Madness tournament in Las Vegas but when I received this wonderful email from Donna in California, my spirits were lifted to the sky! Thank you so very much to Donna and friends!!!

Dear Ann,

There were 12 of us who played at Mussell Center today and I read your morning blog post to everyone. They were very sad for you so we took a “sad photo” showing our disappointment that you couldn’t get there and then a “happy photo” because we love your book, love playing and love your blog!

Feel free to use however!

This group is mostly the newer group and not the one with all of the “old timers” (about 26 people). We did appreciate the suggestions from all of the readers!

Stay warm,

Donna

Ann, I want to tell you how you should not be sad because of all the wonderful things you do for others.  ME in point.  You encouraged me to make those %#)(%# mah jongg cookies and to take pictures of them and send them to you.  Then you had me tell you my experience with my Mom on how I came to know mahj and my relationship with her.  Now keeping that all in mind, on Feb 5th, my brother passed away.  I started to send my Mom more letters than before because I knew how hard it was for her to lose a son and I also knew she needed me to have more contact with  her.  The first thing I sent her was a picture of those blasted cookies on the three tier dish along with a letter all about you and a picture of your book as well.  Then I sent her the blog of how the game brought us closer together.   A week ago this past Tuesday, I got a letter from one of the nurses in the nursing home that I kept in touch with saying how much my Mom enjoyed the blog and when she saw the picture of the cookies how happy she was that I was using HER 3 tier platter that I now had.  Nope, not a word about those cookies!! LOL  But she got to see them.  On Friday, a week ago, 2/27, I got the call I have been dreading and had to rush to NJ getting there at 1:00 a.m. on Saturday morning and my Mom passed at 3:00 a.m.  BUT I got to tell her how sorry I was that we never had the mother daughter relationship I had always wanted but how happy I was that we got to share those special moments where we played mahj together and formed a bond.  Losing two in 3 weeks has been tough.  I am sitting shiva for my Mom  until Monday and I have to tell you, it is all my mahj sisters that have gotten me through this.  First by putting together a service when we got home on Tuesday so I could say the mourner’s kaddish, then by coming to my house on their lunch breaks so I wasn’t alone and then dragging me off to synagogue for services at night.  They are also the ones that put out an email titled Mah Jongg Mitzvoh to get the girls together to play mahj this weekend to keep my mind off the events.  So, Ann, please, instead of being sad, think of what you did for me and my Mom by bringing us closer in that special way.  You should be so proud of the work you have done and how many lives you  have touched.Thank you for touching mineJan       Time is like a river.  You cannot touch the same water twice because the flow that has passed will never pass again.  Enjoy every moment of life..•* *~`:JAN.•* *~:      From: Mah Jongg and Me To: jewishnun@yahoo.com Sent: Saturday, March 7, 2015 7:04 AM Subject: [New post] HOPE YOU KNOW HOW MUCH THIS CHEERED ME UP… #yiv9235431136 a:hover {color:red;}#yiv9235431136 a {text-decoration:none;color:#0088cc;}#yiv9235431136 a.yiv9235431136primaryactionlink:link, #yiv9235431136 a.yiv9235431136primaryactionlink:visited {background-color:#2585B2;color:#fff;}#yiv9235431136 a.yiv9235431136primaryactionlink:hover, #yiv9235431136 a.yiv9235431136primaryactionlink:active {background-color:#11729E;color:#fff;}#yiv9235431136 WordPress.com | mahjonggandme posted: “I’ve been so blue all day about missing Gladys Grad’s Mah Jongg Madness tournament in Las Vegas but when I received this wonderful email from Donna in California, my spirits were lifted to the sky! Thank you so very much to Donna and friends!!!Donna w” | | Respond to this post by replying above this line |
