I’M SO PROUD!

The Mah Jongg class I am currently teaching has finished their Beginners Class; now they are on to Supervised Play. Monday was only our second session and, to paraphrase Henry Higgins, I think they’ve got it!

Lisa is amazing – she declared Mah Jongg early on – only 8 tiles had been discarded with this nice WINDS – DRAGONS hand of NNNN EEEE WWWW SS. She’s had a real understanding of the game since our first lesson!

Minkie put together a beautiful CONSECUTIVE RUN hand of 11 222 3333 444 55 and she even remembered that you can’t use Jokers for a pair – a difficult concept to understand when you are first learning the game – good job, Minkie!

Linda also declared Mah Jongg with the same CONSECUTIVE RUN hand. She kept saying that she had nothing but managed to call out, “Mah Jongg!” Way to go, Linda!

Lisa put together one of my favorite hands, LIKE NUMBERS with FF 2222 2222 2222

WE’RE SO COOL…

Our dear friend Donna from the Central Coast of California saw this blurb in Better Homes & Gardens and sent it to me – thanks for sharing this with us, Donna!

WISH WE WERE THERE…

Not only is Dottie on a wonderful Mexican vacation but she has managed to put together Mah Jongg games on the beach…and with the new card!

Dottie wrote: “I am on Playa Anclote, Rocio’s Restaurant in Coral de Risco, Punta de Mita, Mexico.  Second day of playing on the beach with the new card. This was the second game of the day….off to a good start! Do you like the new card?”

MAH JONGG ON THE CENTRAL COAST…

From the Central Coast of California – not far from the majestic Hearst Castle – a wonderful message comes from our good friend, Donna, including photos, all about her Mah Jongg group (including the indomitable Boots Hersh!).

“You have asked for photos of groups playing MJ. I have a group of lovely ladies at my house on the second and fourth Wednesday of every month. We started out as a group of us who all belong to the same Corvette Club. I have added ladies from my past two classes and now we are three tables. Here is a group photo of us and I’m the one in the red shirt. Boots is on the far left as she is our “expert” having played “forever”. Everyone else has been playing less than 18 months but we have a great time. The other day there were 13 of us. We are on all on the Central Coast of CA and come from Lompoc, Santa Maria, and Grover Beach.

Hugs,

Donna”
