A LAST HURRAH FOR 2014…
Wonderful Shirley and her Thursday Mah Jongg group in Toronto had one last final fling with the 2014 card. Shirley wrote:
Because I only provided my Thursday group with their 2015 cards at our last game, we decided to play one last time with the 2014 card. Doubles gave me $6.00 on that hand. Wish I had picked it myself…
The person who gave me my mahj also foiled me in my quest to complete the 336 33669 336699 hand one final time.
Beautiful set and racks!
Anybody else having a final fling with the old card before succumbing to the call of the new? Or is everyone now using the 2015 card exclusively?
IT’S HERE!!!
Guess what I found waiting for me today in my mailbox…
I haven’t spent a lot of time with it yet but, at first glance, it looks like so much fun! I do think some of the hands are harder than on the 2014 card because in a number of the hands where last year’s card asked for a Pung of Flowers, this new card is asking for a Pung of Dragons instead. Much easier to get those Flowers, as we all know. So, this is going to be a fun challenge – can’t wait to start playing with this card!
Did you receive your card yet? If so, what are your thoughts on the new 2015 card?

MAH JONGG SUNDAY
I’m always flattered when the ladies in my apartment building invite me to join in their Mah Jongg game. They have each been playing for about a million years and their game play is fast and exciting. I like playing with them because it really sharpens my game play to have to play so fast. Their table rule is that you cannot lose more than $5 in one day so I come armed with lots and lots of quarters! One of the ladies today has been playing Mah Jongg since 1938! She is in her 90s and still sharp at the game – wow! what an inspiration she is!!
I had a very lucky day and declared Mah Jongg a number of times and went home with more money than I came with to the game. Here are just a few of the many nice hands that were played today (these ladies not only play really fast, they like to play for many hours!):
This hand came together nicely for me. I am finding the 2468 hands on the NMJL 2014 card much easier to play than they were on the 2013 card.
